The bound outer edges are a woven cotton plaid I found yardage of secondhand here in Vermont

densely batted 100% cotton quilt that both hand-pieced and quilted in a Glorified (or sometimes referred to as Modified) Nine Patch pattern

Measurements (approximate - actual volume it can hold is much greater given teh flexibility and cinch closure on the top):

it is possible it shows its age in the form of some discolorations/color bleed and wear to some of the fabrics
